No longer will Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) customers traversing the busy Parika area have to travel to Pouderoyen to access the company’s services, as it opened its new sub-office in the Lotus Mall, Parika, East Bank Essequibo on February 18, 2018.

This new branch will serve as a convenient location for customers from Essequibo, Bartica and the West Bank and West Coast of Demerara.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, GWI’s Managing Director, Dr. Richard Van West-Charles plugged the company’s continuous efforts to become more customer-centric in its delivery of services.

The new office at Parika, he said, will better allow GWI to be in constant communication with customers, even as the company continues to expand its presence to provide service throughout Guyana.

Dr. Van West-Charles stressed the importance of a fixed presence in the community and working with members of the community and organs of the government.

This year, GWI is focusing on having a strategic relationship with Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) throughout the country. The Managing Director said that he expects the staff at the new office to be involved in NDC meetings to garner feedback from customers in order to improve service delivery.

He noted that the company has seen a tremendous response from customers in the reporting of leaks. They now have a greater understanding of the negative impact of leaks on their water pressure, flow and quality.

Dr. Van West-Charles took the opportunity to stress that GWI has zero tolerance for corruption and customers should feel comfortable to report such to managers and senior staff of the company.

GWI, he said, is moving aggressively to ensure it becomes the best utility company in the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regional Executive Officer (D-REO) of Region 3, Mrs. Jennifer Ferreira-Dougall welcomed the opening of the new office, which she said will augur well for customers in the Region.

Customers, she pointed out, will find great relief in not having to travel all the way to Pouderoyen, hence bills will be paid on time.

The D-REO said that the Regional Administration and GWI have always shared a good relationship, even as she pledged the Region’s continued support.

Chairperson of the GWI Board of Directors, Mrs. Patricia Chase-Green in her remarks at the opening said that the company is making life easier for its customers.

She spoke of the convenience of the location as she pointed out that GWI is meeting customers half way.

Mrs. Chase-Green took the opportunity to urge customers to ensure that their taps are properly turned off and report leaks and breakages.

The GWI Parika sub-Office will be opened on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 am; closed on Wednesdays, opened on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and Sundays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Services offered include bill payment, fault reporting, applications for new service connections and queries.
