Residents of Port Kaituma, Region 1 are being urged NOT to consume water from the Port Kaituma River, since its quality has been compromised due to mining activities.
The Guyana Water Incorporated has shut down the engine driven water supply system in your community and will recommence pumping as soon as clearance is given by the water quality department.
Meantime, potable water is available from the Port Kaituma Pump station and residents are being urged to make full use of this water source.
