GUYANA WATER INCORPORATED & AMALGAMATED TRANSPORT AND GENERAL WORKERS UNION CORPORATIVE AGREEMENT
The Guyana Water Incorporated, and the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union (ATGWU), signed the Recognition and the Avoidance and Settlement of disputes Memorandum of Agreement on October 23, 2009 and it is the bargaining agency for the employees of GWI from the level of Supervisors to that of the unskilled labourers.
This agreement establishes and regulates the procedures for collective bargaining between the two entities. It seeks to ensure fear and accepted industrial relations practices and the processing of disputes and grievances under the collective agreement.
The agreement provides for corporation in promoting the following:
- Protection of the Guyana Water Incorporated assets
- The development of the Guyana Water Incorporated
- Maximum efficiency of operations
- Maintain and uplift the condition of employment of workers
