Region 10

In 2016, Region 10 – Upper Demerara - Berbice had a population of 38,847 persons and its operational areas ranged from Reg. 3, 4 & 5 to the North, Reg. 6 to the east and Reg. 7 & 8 to the west with 10,557 households and 7,572 customers. Of this number, GWI provides service to 7,552 connections in 29 communities through 5 water supply facilities namely Wisroc WTP; West Watooka WTP; # 1 Mackenzie; LPC # 2 Mackenzie; and Amelia's Ward which source water from various sources of water including surface water from Demerara River, Creeks, and manmade lakes; Natural Springs; and Aquifers. The regional operations provide a service to several categories of customers, 241 - commercial; 6,005 - domestic; 59 industrial; 11 - institutional; ‘no charge' - 1256. Among the lot of industrial and institutional there are 18 Schools and 6 Health Centre.
